Taking Time for What Matters

If you don’t have time for what matters most to you, you’re not doing it right.  There is no reason to take your God-given time on this earth for things that don’t matter much in the end.  As I bake this cake, I could think of lots of little things I could be doing.  But, I hadn’t made my son’s favorite cake—pound cake—in a long time.  This was the third time he had asked me if I was baking this weekend.  So I had to evaluate.  Yes, I had a full weekend. But in the end, I cherish that time in the kitchen with my boys, and what a blessing it is to be able to bake with love for them.  So, with a potluck coming up at church, I decided that this was the weekend.  I stopped doing some things, so that I could do this thing. And I didn’t regret it.

If you find that you are filling your day with things that drain you, and wishing for the things that renew you.  Stop.  There has to be some emailing or laundry folding that you can stop and instead do that important thing.  This world is tough enough and will swallow you up if you are not intentional.  Please, take time for what really matters.
